Interview with Ankush Bharti, Chief Editor of The Holistic Pine

Image
The Holistic Pine, an independent international monthly journal is creating ripples in India and abroad with its treatment of subject matter and audacity of presentation. The avid reader found one’s haven of reading inside the pages of The Holistic Pine. The pine revolution of reading is an offshoot of Writers’ Kalam, a knowledge-based educational venture initiated by the renowned Indian English author Anu Lal. The venture envisions catering to the rising demands in bridge courses that can help candidates seeking future employment opportunities in equipping themselves better to meet professional challenges.   The second issue of The Holistic Pine came out in December of 2022 and the timing of this issue couldn’t have been better. The new year broke with the stupendously insightful read on the various arenas of education. With J Krishnamurti, philosopher and educator on its cover, the journal carried articles like “Period Education Project”, “God’s of Education”, “Death ...

THE TRANSPORTER: REFUELLED –Relentless Overacting

Image
What I am about to ask may appear rather controversial in terms of the business of cinema. Ultimately, that is what it is, a business where people follow the criteria they are sure to bring in a lot of favour. Some succeed, some don’t. What’s that mystery? Who knows?   My question is... where is Jason Statham? Transporter trilogy has been branded in his image and style. Last time I checked, he was taking his time off on a fishing boat or something, I mean the Transporter. Where does he go when they ‘refuelled’ this series? Refuelled is part of the same franchise, but portrays a younger Frank Martin, directed by Camille Delamarre. In Refuelled, Frank Martin is played by Ed Skrein. Image Courtesy: Google Now, let us sit down and talk over a tea. No, not coffee. I hear Americans drink coffee. In India, tea is a trendy all-time beverage. When you discuss the Refuelled instalment of The Transporter tea or coffee is a must. Otherwise, you may miss the whole point. As p...

FULL BLACK BY BRAD THOR: A Review

Image
Brad Thor’s greatest achievement is the courage to expose, using the language of fiction, the most double-tongued enemy of humanity at the moment—terrorism. One the one hand, our society supports murderers and terrorists in the name of political correctness, and on the other, accepts victimization as a natural course of things. In Full Black , Brad Thor is evidently intolerant toward double standards of all kind. A thriller is supposed to hook the reader from the first page and take him or her on a journey of excitement, fulfilling adventures, and invigorating drama. Full Black offers it all in full quantities. Action and bloodshed are common in American thrillers. Full Black is no exception. This is the beauty of Full Black that it knows its way around in the maze of the craft as well as in the business of thrilling a reader. The novel gives us another adventure in the life of Brad Thor’s celebrated protagonist Scot Harvath.           Former N...

MAKE THIS BOOK YOUR WEEKEND READ

Image
Mount Sermon is my fifth book. In Mount Sermon , I have attempted to perfect one of my well acclaimed strategies in fiction, which is, a story inside a story.    In Mount Sermon , I have attempted to tell the story of a storyteller. Within the story of this amazing man, you may also discover the story of a nother gifted man. I would not want to reveal all the surprises here. But I can tell you, with Mount Sermon, I have taken my craft to a whole new level.

MOUNT SERMON AND REVENGE

Image
Vengeance is an all too human phenomenon, an emotional state that may separate man from beast. The paradox is that this very state transforms one’s humanity into the worst thinkable nightmare. In Mount Sermon, I tell the story of Kathik, who encounters a moment of choice. I would like to share with you a wallpaper my team designed for Mount Sermon, pre-release anticipatory campaign. Mount Sermon will be released in Kindle on 11 September 2015.
