If you are a fan of Gene Roddenberry’s original Star Trek television series, Kang must have terrified you, or at least made you feel you could have taken a lurch into the mother ship and strangled the rascal.

Kang, the leader of the evil Klingon however, was a success in his villainy.  And so is Michael Ansara, the actor who portrayed this character, his most famous work. Ansara is apparently, the only actor who could played the same role in later retelling of the saga, many other times. [I am not so sure about this information, readers’ discretion preferred]

What makes the Star Trek series special is its international appeal. Star Trek was not just an American show, it was enjoyed by everyone, and the marks it left behind in other cultures far away in physical distance from the American, is still perceivable.

In every nation, and every television network there must be a star-trek-like show that imbibed the spirit from the legendary Star Trek series. Mukesh Khanna’s Aryaman in Indian television is just one example. [Captain Vyom is another example. Doordarshan had many quality serials during the 90s]

Star Trek series was an unforgettable television experience, and an unignorable cultural phenomenon. The actor, Ansara, though died while suffering from alzheimer's disease. In other words, even though it was difficult for the world to forget about the show he and his peers made, Ansara died struggling to hold onto his memories.

He was 91 when he died. May his soul rest in peace.
